Your iPhone does not have enough storage space for all your photos and videos, but you don't want to upload all of them to the cloud because of privacy concerns? Then 1Album is for you. 1Album can expand your photo album storage capacity with your own computers or NAS devices. First, you install 1Album Blackbox, which is the storage backend for 1Album, on your own computer or NAS devices. 1Album will then use the storage of that computer as the secondary storage for your iPhone. 1Album automatically upload your photos and videos to your blackbox. When your iPhone is low on storage space, 1Album can free up space for you by replacing uploaded photos and videos with small thumbnail images. If you click on the thumbnail image, the original image will be streamed back to your phone automatically. 1Album never stores your photos or videos to any cloud service or strangers computers. Instead, 1Album uses encrypted connections link directly from your iOS device to your blackbox at home to backup photos and videos to the blackbox or stream contents back from it. Not only this is faster and cheaper compares to cloud services, but also much more private because your photos and videos are stored only on devices that you own. Even when you don't have a blackbox, you can still use 1Album to merge photos and videos on your iPhone and iPads into one album. That is, you can view photos on your iPhone from an iPad, and vice versa. 1Album will use the same peer-to-peer technology to sync contents between devices directly. Under the hood, 1Album uses an industry standard peer-to-peer technology call WebRTC to establish the secure connections. WebRTC can penetrate most NAT routers without special configurations. There is no need to fiddle with opening ports or UPnP. If the computer where your blackbox is installed can browse the Internet, 1Album on your iOS device can connect to it. It's that simple.
